JUST CALL ME VETO
Levon Mckee (born in New Orleans, LA), better known by his stage name Veto is an Atlanta based rapper; signed to the independent label (that he founded) Self Driven LLC.
Early life
At a very early age Veto moved with his parents and two older siblings to Paterson, NJ; where he would spend the majority of his childhood. When Veto was around the age of twelve the Mckee family relocated again, this time to Atlanta, Ga.
Veto quickly adapted to this new environment and was greatly influenced by southern culture. Always having been a fan of southern rap, such as that of Cash Money Records, No Limit Records and Soulja Slim, among others. It was as if Veto had returned to his roots. Veto was a popular, athletic kid in school and made friends quickly while attending Inman Middle School. Veto displayed an interest in being a hip hop artist at in early age. During his freshman year at Grady High School he began to record raps over the phone with his childhood friend Christopher “Loco” Hayes. They later recorded an album together in a mutual friend’s basement and distributed it around school. Veto also gained notoriety as a young rapper by battle rapping around the schoolyard and participating in freestyle rap contest.
Career
In 2007 Veto decided to pursue a professional rap career; as a solo artist under the moniker “Fly Guy Veto”. He along with childhood friend “Loco” co-founded Fam 1st Entertainment. Veto began to gain a buzz in Atlanta’s underground rap scene for his creative lyrics and undeniable sense of fashion. In 2012 he dropped “No Handouts” a mixtape that instantly became an Atlanta street classic. Over the ensuing years he went on to release several more mixtapes and collaborated with the likes of Rich Homie Quan, Bankroll Fresh, K Camp, OG Maco, Jose Guapo and more.
Veto changed the name of his label a few times over the years. In 2014, he settled on the name Self Driven LLC., a reflection of his own ideals and work ethic. February 2015 he released his premier album under the new label and entitled it “Self Driven”. Self Driven bolstered street anthems such as “Kake” and “Wrist” (ft. OG Maco). Late 2015 feeling that he had out grown the moniker of his youth he changed his name to VETO, an abbreviation for Victory Ends Those Opinions. February 2016 VETO released his Debut EP under his new name, self-entitled, “Victory Ends Those Opinions”. Veto continues to experience success and growth as an artist.
